About JacobBorn and raised in San Rafael, New Mexico, Jacob Torrez moved to the Albuquerque/Los Ranchos area in 2010. He received his undergraduate and graduate degree at New Mexico State University, then pursued an undergraduate degree in Human and Community Services with a concentration in educational psychology and community health. He later earned a Masters degree in Social Work with a clinical focus in Family-Centered Practice.
Jacob has always had a passion to help people. He is fascinated by the human experience, especially thought and emotional connections. He understands how a person can find themselves overcome with their experiences. Life isn’t always pleasant, and difficult situations can easily knock a person off balance. Jacob believes that everyone deserves to be happy. Contentment happens when we are balanced. Healing happens when we can balance the good and the bad. Jacob retired in 2022 from the State of New Mexico where he had worked for 25 years providing behavioral interventions, clinical supervision and administration. He provided mental health assessments and consultations in the hospital setting and mental health care and crisis intervention to incarcerated youth and adults. He has experience with and a passion for teaching and providing community outpatient mental health services, intern supervision, and independent clinical licensure supervision to students and professionals. Opening this Center for Balance & Healing has been a long-term goal and dream. |
